With excitement rising for ULTRA South Africa, DJ and producer Kitty Amor is preparing for a powerful performance that reflects the vibrant culture that has influenced her music. Scheduled to grace the stage later this month, Kitty shares insights on her connection to South Africa, her tailored sets for local crowds, her latest single, and what attendees can expect from her ULTRA performance.
The ULTRA South Africa festival is set to take place at two iconic venues:
- Johannesburg – Saturday, April 25, 2026, at Expo Centre at Nasrec
- Cape Town – Sunday, April 26, 2026 at The Ostrich
Excited to Perform for South African Fans
“South Africa feels like a second home,” Kitty shares, mentioning her eight years of visits for performances. “The energy and passion from the fans inspire me deeply—it’s an honor to perform for such engaging crowds.”
Preparing for Different Audiences
When planning her sets, Kitty emphasizes the cultural foundations of South African music. “For Johannesburg, I pay homage to the roots of electronic music, recognizing how it shaped what’s now known as Afro House. In London, I adopt a more educational approach,” she explains.
Embracing African Influences in Music
Kitty’s passion for African Electronic Music grew during her first visit to Johannesburg. “The infusion of electronic music into daily life there was breathtaking and transformed how I connect with it,” she recalls.
Influence of Energetic, Diverse Crowds
ULTRA South Africa’s diverse audience presents unique connections through music. “The freedom to explore past and contemporary sounds becomes evident with such different crowd interactions,” she shares, noting how this influences her performance flow.
Staying Inspired in an Evolving Genre
Traveling worldwide keeps Kitty inspired. “Every region absorbs Afro House differently, which allows me to adapt my sound and connect with local audiences effectively,” she explains.
New Single ‘Mean 2 Me’ Featuring Skyla Tylaa and Ruger
Kitty’s latest track, “Mean 2 Me,” emerged from an impromptu session with Skyla Tylaa and Ruger. “Ruger’s melody skills inspired me, and I aimed to blend Afro House elements with a commercial sound,” she teases.
What to Expect from ULTRA Set
“Expect a high-energy, immersive journey,” Kitty promises. “Afro House remains at the core, but I’ll guide fans through its tribal roots, culminating in modern melodic and techno influences. Be ready to dance!”
Future Plans for 2026
Kitty has her sights set high for 2026, hinting at more music to come, a balance between touring and studio time, and upcoming headline shows including more parties at significant events like ADE.
