Dr. Krishnan Ranganath Appointed CEO of UniCloud Africa Limited
UniCloud Africa Limited, a leading pan-African cloud platform, has announced the appointment of Dr. Krishnan Ranganath as its new Chief Executive Officer. Dr. Ranganath is recognized for his extensive experience in developing and scaling digital infrastructure while ensuring operational excellence, which aligns with UniCloud Africa’s goal of transforming Africa’s digital landscape.
Launching Sovereign Cloud and AI Infrastructure
The timing of Dr. Ranganath’s appointment coincides with the eagerly awaited launch of UniCloud Africa’s enterprise-grade sovereign cloud and AI infrastructure. This rollout initially targets six countries: Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa, Zambia, Senegal, and Mozambique. According to the company, this foundational infrastructure is available immediately, setting the stage for upcoming expansions into Kenya, Tanzania, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Uganda, Ethiopia, and Côte d’Ivoire.
One Cloud, One Africa
Operating under the mantra “One Cloud, One Africa,” UniCloud positions itself as a locally compliant and scalable alternative to high-latency international providers. This initiative primarily focuses on governments and enterprises requiring robust digital infrastructure tailored to African contexts.
Dr. Ranganath’s Vision for Cloud Evolution
In his first statement as CEO, Dr. Ranganath expressed his commitment to UniCloud’s mission, stating, “UniCloud sits at the epicentre of Africa’s cloud evolution. We are committed to deploying 100% sovereign infrastructure across the continent. My focus is on driving high-growth partnerships and scaling the next generation of resilient, sustainable cloud infrastructure to accelerate the evolution of the African digital ecosystem.”
His immediate priorities include fostering strategic partnerships and expanding the deployment of resilient, sustainable cloud solutions. Additionally, Dr. Ranganath aims to introduce GPU technology in specific markets to meet their distinct needs and growth potentials.

While acknowledging the challenges posed by integrating AI and transitioning to green energy, Dr. Ranganath remains optimistic about the vast opportunities for growth. He noted, “I am eager to collaborate with our partners and customers to redefine the digital frontier and accelerate the evolution of the African digital ecosystem.”
Support from Co-Founder Ladi Okuneye
Ladi Okuneye, co-founder and outgoing CEO, will continue to serve as a director on the board.
