A Historic Milestone: First Large-Scale Charter Flight from the Caribbean to Africa
ABUJA – In a groundbreaking endeavor that signals a new era of South-South cooperation, Aquarian Consult Limited has announced the launch of the first large-scale commercial charter flight from the Caribbean to Africa. This significant journey is set to take place on March 21st, 2026, departing from Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport in St. Kitts, carrying over 100 passengers, including business leaders, government officials, and cultural figures from eight Caribbean nations. The flight is expected to land at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, Nigeria, on March 22nd.
A “Reverse Middle Passage” of Economic Empowerment
This historic flight is more than just a means of transportation; it represents a “Reverse Middle Passage,” promoting economic empowerment between the Caribbean and Africa. Unlike traditional travel routes that often involve exhausting layovers in Europe or North America, this flight connects the heart of the Caribbean directly to the heart of Africa, enhancing accessibility and trade opportunities.
A Prelude to the Afri-Caribbean Investment Summit (AACIS)
The flight marks the opening act for the Afri-Caribbean Investment Summit (AACIS), scheduled to take place from March 23rd to 28th at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja. This summit aims to foster meaningful dialogue and cooperation between the two regions, focusing on agricultural innovation, cultural exchanges, and investments in various sectors.
Key Highlights of the Journey
- A New Trade Corridor: This flight establishes a vital economic link between St. Kitts and Nevis and Nigeria, further strengthening the relationships between the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
- Direct Connectivity: By drastically reducing travel time from over 30 hours to a more manageable transatlantic hop, this initiative proves the viability of establishing a permanent Transatlantic Bridge between the two regions.
- AACIS Prelude: Passengers on this charter flight will engage in high-level discussions focused on agriculture, culture, and investment opportunities that propel both regions forward.
Empowering Future Trade and Tourism
Aisha Maina, Managing Director of Aquarian Consult, remarked, “We are no longer just dreaming of a bridge between our two regions; we are flying over it. This flight isn’t merely transporting people; it’s carrying the future of Afri-Caribbean trade, tourism, and shared prosperity.”
With this pivotal step, Aquarian Consult Limited is poised to reshape the landscape of economic relationships between the Caribbean and Africa, paving the way for future collaborations and advancements.
