Application Open for the Africa CDC Biomanufacturing Fellowship Programme 2026
The Africa CDC Biomanufacturing Fellowship Programme for 2026 is now accepting applications until April 20, 2026. This initiative aims to support the African Union’s objective of producing 60% of vaccines on the continent by 2040. However, achieving this ambitious target necessitates a significant increase in the workforce, as the current pool consists of only 3,000 full-time equivalents (FTEs).
Need for Enhanced Training in Biomanufacturing
The dearth of dedicated training programs in the biomanufacturing industry has led to a gap in the skills necessary for university graduates and professionals currently in the sector. Most of the existing workforce upskilling opportunities are fragmented, making it challenging for employees to participate while maintaining their job commitments.
The biomanufacturing fellowship programme is meticulously designed to provide biomanufacturing professionals with advanced competencies aligned with the Vaccine R&D and Vaccine Manufacturing Competency Frameworks developed by the Africa CDC. The curriculum covers essential knowledge areas such as leadership, mentorship, management, resource enterprise planning, and entrepreneurship, facilitating a robust 2-year theoretical and practical training experience.
