Bryson DeChambeau Gears Up for Masters with Strong Performances in LIV Golf
As the Masters approaches, Bryson DeChambeau is optimistic about his game, indicating he’s experiencing a positive trajectory. With a recent T3 finish in Adelaide and a playoff victory at LIV Golf Singapore, DeChambeau aims to maintain his momentum during the upcoming LIV Golf South Africa in Midrand, which represents the fifth out of 14 events this season.
Recent Achievements Boost Confidence
DeChambeau expressed confidence in his performance, stating, “I feel like I’m progressing well and comfortable with my game, hitting it a lot better than I have in years past leading into major season, early in the season for LIV Golf.” He further noted that his early practice sessions this year are paying off.
His recent playoff victory was a dramatic affair. DeChambeau forced a playoff against Richard T Lee by sinking a birdie on the 18th hole. On the first playoff hole, he saved par while Lee missed a two-foot putt, allowing DeChambeau to clinch the win.
Climbing the Ranks
With the Singapore victory, DeChambeau ascended to No. 33 in the Official World Golf Ranking. However, he has little time to bask in his success, as he is focused on the upcoming events.
“Being here in South Africa, I’ve always wanted to come here. The hospitality, people, and culture are quite amazing.”

LIV Golf’s First Stop in Africa
Traveling from Singapore to South Africa marks a historic moment as LIV Golf holds its first competition on the African continent. DeChambeau sees this as a chance to inspire young golfers in the region. “I think that’s a part of our mission, becoming more global and influencing communities,” he stated. “It only improves facilities and communities everywhere across the globe.”
His thoughts echoed the league’s aims to extend the reach of golf internationally, which has been successfully executed in the United States and is now making strides globally.
A Bright Future for Golf in South Africa
Reflecting on his journey, DeChambeau emphasizes the importance of establishing connections within the golf community. He has spoken to legends like Gary Player and Ernie Els about their experiences and the vibrant golf culture in South Africa.
“Being here in South Africa, I’ve always wanted to come here,” he reiterated, highlighting the incredible hospitality and cultural richness he has encountered during his visit.
